AGFEO Telephone Systems for Lifeboats

Several boats of the German Lifeboat fleet have had an AGFEO Telephone System installed.

Whilst in harbour the telephone system of the vessel is connected to the fixed line telephone network. As soon as the fixed line is disconnected and the boat goes out to sea the telephone system automatically switches to a GSM Gateway which enables telecommunication via the mobile telephone network. All installed AGFEO Telephone Systems offer DECT cordless communication. The rescuer wears only an AGFEO System DECT Headset to communicate and receive instructions from a medical centre based in Cuxhaven.

AGFEO developed special system software which made it possible to seamlessly switch to the mobile network once the fixed line telephone service is no longer detected. This type of software is now employed in every AGFEO Telephone System as standard. Whilst initially various AGFEO Systems had been used throughout the lifeboat fleet, it is now planned to upgrade all equipment to the AGFEO AS 200 IT, a 19 inch rack mounted telephone system which is easily integrated into an IT environment.
